Knowledge as an orientation to space. (Free flow writing)

Caution: This is free flow thinking and writing. Intentionally not very organized-

There are times in my life, even throughout the day, when I flat out lose my orientation. The feeling is similar to the times when you are on your way to get something in another room and when you get there you totally forget what you came into the room to get. Or perhaps you may have been distracted by something else and still forgot the intention you originally stepped into that space.

That’s how life feels for me sometimes.

The acquisition of knowledge through reading, studying, and graduate school does not necessarily mean that I value it most. It’s just that knowledge and the study of this world and its realities acts as weights or anchors around my ankles that help me define an orientation in the world. So what I understand helps me set the parameters of north, south, east, west, this or that to gain a sense of where I am right now and interpreting the world relative to MY POSITION/orientation in it.

Thus, I examine “it” today, but tomorrow or later in my future I hope to perceive it upside-down-right-side-up.The orientation that knowledge provides is useful to examine the current state but I never hold on to it forever.

I am keenly aware that the reference for my orientation today is not the only reality that exists.

My spirit, weightless like the astronauts adrift in the galaxy.  Oh that we were brave enough to float.  Fear and survival keeps me tethered to the space station. Fear and the survival instinct seem to be the same: different sides of the same coin? gravity
