Today’s Affirmation-ENCOURAGE YO’Self

Love-YourselfToday, I definitely had to encourage myself! I was feeling really down, but I couldn’t put my finger on anything specifically that happened that would have triggered that.  In fact, I had been really feeling on top of the world, especially over the last several months. Today, however, there was this heaviness that was so palpable that I did not even want to eat.  For those of you that know me, you should be calling the undertaker right about now! LOL

I tried to think through it.  I think I was feeling a little lost in the world…a little lost in the sauce.  All of these great expectations and opportunities started to consume me, and I began to try to measure myself according to whether I will accomplish these things.  Then I began to worry about the time that it would take for me to have the outcome? Will I endure? Will I outlast in disturbance or setbacks should they come?  Finally, I said, “God I need a word to get me aligned!” And He said to me, “Cory, if you never accomplish anything else; If you never have any more success; If nobody in this whole world ever picks you for love or for an opportunity…YOU (alone) are ENOUGH!” Then my analytical mind begin to calculate: enough for what? Holy Spirit responded, “The fact that you need to complete that sentence is where we have work to do. But for now, just trust me when I say ENOUGH.” Ya know, I’m not even worried about the for…again, it implies that something or someone needs to validate me. No, I’m just enough, adequate, sufficient, complete, worthy and worthwhile, plenty, abundant, together, fulfilling, satisfying–with NO preservatives, additives, or measured by something behind the preposition, for.

It actually made me laugh when I considered it and repeated it aloud. “I am enough. I am enough.” Any of my friends will tell you that. In fact, many of them remark, “Cory, you are TOO MUCH!” Wow! It’s really true, I am enough.

I want to conclude with this thought, here. I began to get unglued about how much “time” it will take me to reach some of my goals. Namely, my desired weight. And I understood the scripture totally differently: “They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”  See, God will cause you to wait and endure the process…and He uses time to pretty much show off! To show you His exceeding power and greatness.  So you develop an appreciation for His great interest, affection, and the working of His divine mind concerning you. Therefore, it makes since that God uses time and process to STRENGTHEN, or said differently to increase your faith MUSCLES…to encourage or renew your hope and expectation as you anticipate Him lifting that 3ton elephant into the sky with his bare hands! Now, therefore, consider the alternative. They that DO NOT wait on the Lord are weak, faint-hearted, exhausted, overworked and underpaid, about to give up, about to quit, KAPUT! I’ll take the WAIT rather than the weight. Love you guys…

Wow! This is awesome and really spoke to me! I often feel secondary, left out, inadequate, and unsure of myself as well as what God has gifted me to do or become. More importantly, however, I question the plan to become the opposite of those things as I desire to get/be better. As I read this word of encouragement, I was reminded of Paul’s declaration that he has not apprehended all things, but the one thing he does is to forget that which is behind him to press towards higher. In my hearing, I heard, ” you might not know every step to greater or success, but there is one thing you do know and that is what God has instructed you to do….PRESS! Do what he says and the rest of the steps to higher, greater, and success will follow.” In fact, Pastor T Renee’ Glenn said it best a few weeks ago, “Just do the one thing he told you.” So…Just as you have encouraged me, I encourage you to wait in expectation, with great hope, and believing in God’s plans for your life even if you have to wait. Don’t be concerned with the details and the time it takes; God has that under control. You are enough; now just do the one thing he told you to do! Love you; mean it!
