The Greater Light & Lesser Light

Genesis 1:3 God said let there be light, and THERE…was light. The power of being and saying let there BE>>Brings existence to the unseen and manifests the existing thing as if it had always been there. I’m reconstructing the syntax so that I can have several viewpoints of this life-organizing principle. Ponder these and what each of them imply:

1. Let THERE be light. 2. Let LIGHT be THERE.. 3. Let light BE. 4. THERE let light BE. 5. Be light, there. 6. (Just) LET light. 7. Be there, light.

Did you know that God spoke the light into existence before he had even appointed the source for that light, being the Sun & the Moon (the Greater & Lesser light)? He commanded light to BE and used that COMMANDED WORD as the provision for herbs, fruit, grass and trees to come forth before He had even commissioned the process of photosynthesis via the sun. This says to me that God’s word is sufficient, even when the specific source has not yet been revealed. Wealth, global leadership, influence and favor, companion-partnerships, and destiny ARE ALL REALities even before you see “how” or “what” will bring it to pass.

Another observation from the scripture notes that God made the greater light to rule the day (which is understood to be the sun) and the lesser light (understood to be the moon) to rule the night. I find this interesting because it would seem to me that you need the GREATER light for the night because visibility is decreased. But there is something so special about the night season/time. My preferred illustration of the power of night is when “at MIDnight Paul and silas prayed and sang praises to God and”…created the jail house rock! God does really spectacular things in the night. After all, I don’t think it’s any happenstance that for God the “evening and the morning” were the first day. We begin our day with what we can see, however God begins His day with what cannot be seen…with what is covert, discrete, hidden, mysterious, secret. The principle of creation is Evening, then morning…darkness, then light. Even with the seed of a plant or the seed impregnating a woman with a child–>it goes into the dark place to develop and then springs forth into the light.

I suppose this might explain why Jesus says (you) must work while it is day because when night comes no man can work because night is specifically the productive hours of God. God created man through our biological circadian rhythms to rest during the night, and during the night while HE is being God something happens so that we awake and we arise into a REVEALation of what has been prepared for us. Weeping endures for a night because of limited visibility, but joy comes in the morning when clarity is highest and quite possibly when we DECIDE to wake up.  The greater light exists for those who are awakened. But even in the night season, God leaves us with a light that will govern even those moments. Now if God has already told you He’s given you a night light, then He obviously doesn’t expect for you to do a whole lot of activity during that time. So chill… Note that the beauty of the heavens is most revealed during the night, most specifically the stars.  The stars SHINE at night.  It’s a lesser light aided by heaven’s stars.

Finally in this creation account, we observe that the governance of the atmospheres, day and night, are prepared before God commands living creatures to come into existence. This says to me that we must have command, authority and good governance over the night and day in preparation for the initiation of more sophisticated life forms.

I am still utterly enchanted by this principle and mysterious strategy: The greater light rules the day, the lesser light rules the night. I’m going to ponder that some more and maybe follow up with some insight!
